Modern psychology no longer believes that psychological cures are possible. This seems to be because the most common models of cure — insight, catharsis, changes in thinking, and changes in behavior — do not cure people, though all but catharsis indicate when a cure has taken place.

To be cured, people need to master their emotions. Every interaction is designed to help them do that, but only when they adopt the correct perspective and know what mastery involves.
